Preserving the traces of Native American cultures long gone, the Ocmulgee National Monument both maintains the last remnants of these cultures and illuminates their lifestyles to educate visitors today. At the monument, guests can visit the museum which houses numerous artifacts and walk inside a reconstructed earthlodge, like those that existed a thousand years ago. Also at the monument are over five miles of hiking and walking trails, providing ample room to simply get out and explore nature. The monument is on the north side of the river, just east of Macon, making it easily accessible to all.
